How to create and upload content
CREATE AND BE A PART OF TAKE BACK THE TECH!
Build the campaign with your thoughts, ideas, words and imagination. Create and share digital postcards. Find out more about the reality of violence against women by watching digital stories. Blog with us. Upload and share video and audio clips. Create your own Take Back The Tech! campaign.
To upload multimedia materials, like posters, banners, photos, audio clips and video clips, you need to:
- Create an account
- Log in
- Click on "Create content" at the bottom right column of the site. You will be taken to a page with a list of options on types of media you can upload
A) Audio
- To upload and share your audio files like interviews, songs, campaign chants etc., click on "audio".
- Fill in the form accordingly:
- Audio Title: Fill in the title of your audio clip
- Issues: Select which category of issue your audio clip deals with. You can select more than 1 category by holding down the "Shift" button as you click
- Country: Fill in which country where the audio was recorded
- Tags: If you want to assign additional keywords to your audio clip, you can insert them here.
- Daily action reference: If your audio clip was created as part of a daily action, select which day by scrolling down the options.
- Local campaign profile: If you created this audio as part of a local Take Back The Tech! campaign, scroll down and select your campaign profile (they are listed under countries).
- Audio: Browse and upload your audio file. The types of audio files that you can upload are mp3, wav and mid. Most audio files are saved as mp3. Make sure you audio file is not more than 32MB.
- Embedded audio: If you have uploaded your audio somewhere else, and have an external audio file player, cut and paste the entire embed code for your audio here. Leave it blank if you are uploading audio directly.
- Description: Write a brief description about your audio clip. For example, who is the person interviewed, what the topic is about etc.
- Click "Save" and you're done :) You'll be taken to the page where the audio file is being published
B) Image
- To upload images, click on the "image" option.
- Use this to upload photographs, campaign logo or banner & printscreens.
- Fill in the form accordingly:
- Title: Put in the title of your image
- Image gallery. Select what type of image you are uploading, this will determine where it will be published:
- local campaign banners, stickers & icons - Select this to upload your TBTT campaign logo or banner. They will be published under "View | Listen" > "banners & logos"
- campaign photographs - Select this for pictures and photographs of your campaign in action. For example, campaigners at a march, at a workshop, giving a talk, leafletting etc. You can also upload photographs taken as part of a daily action. All campaign photographs will be published under "View | Listen" > " campaign photos"
- printscreens - If you put up a TakeBackTheTech! icon on your organisational website, blog or online spaces, make a "printscreen" and select this option. If you made a printscreen as part of a daily action, select this option too. All printscreens will be published under "View | Listent" > "printscreens"
- Note: Ignore the other gallery options for now. We are still tidying them up. The relevant galleries are listed above.
- Local campaign profile: If you have a local campaign profile, scroll down until you find yours. It's organised according to country.
- Daily action reference: If your image was created as part of a daily action, select which day by scrolling down the options.
- Image: Browse and select the image you want to upload from your computer
- Body: Write a brief description of the image.
- Click "Save" and you're done. You will be taken to the page where your image is published.
C) Postcard or poster
- To upload digital postcards and campaign posters, click on the "postcards & posters" option.
- Fill in the form accordingly:
- Title: Fill in the name of your poster/postcard
- Daily action reference: If your image was created as part of a daily action, select which day by scrolling down the options.
- Image: Browse and select the image you want to upload from your computer
- Body: Write a brief description of the image.
- Click "Save" and you're done.
- Posters and postcards are published under "View | Listen" > "digital postcards". Users of the website can send them on to their friends as an e-card or digital postcard.
D) Video
- To publish videos on the TBTT website, click on the "video" option.
- Note: You wont be able to upload videos directly to the site. First you would need to publish it on a video publishing and sharing site like YouTube, Vimeo, MySpace etc. They will automatically provide you with an embed code once you upload your video. Copy that code.
- Video title: Fill in the name of your video
- Issues: Select which issue your video talks about or addresses
- Country: Write down where the video was created, or which country it features
- Tags: If you want to assign additional keywords to your video, you can write them here". Separate each keyword with a comma
- Local campaign profile: If you have a local campaign profile, scroll down until you find yours. They are organised according to country.
- Daily action reference: If your image was created as part of a daily action, select which day by scrolling down the options.
- Embedded Video: Paste the entire embed code that you copied from the external video publishing site.
- Description: Write a brief description of the video. Make sure that you get permission from the people who appear in the video to publish it on the TakeBackTheTech site.
- Click "Save" and you're done.
- Videos are published under "View | Listen" > videos
